Season of the Sticks
Ah December, a month of ever shortening days, chiller weather, and a host of holidays. Krampusnacht, Hanukkah, Christmas, Boxing Day, Sol Invictus, New Years Eve, Kwanzaa and more that I’m probably forgetting about; a month haunted by the specter of Mariah Carey and the beginning of Seasonal Depression Season. So, because of the glut of holidays (specifically, X-Mas), there will be only ONE trivia this month.

It’s Christmas Eve-Eve!
Fun Fact: December 5th marks Krampusnacht (Krampus Night) which is often celebrated with a Krampuslauf (Krampus parade). Though modern Krampusnacht celebrations are inexorably tied to his goody-two-shoes counterpart, St. Nicholas, Krampusnacht celebrations originate from a pagan alpine tradition called Perchtenlaufen, which reportedly entailed significantly more mischief and nudity than your average Christmas parade. Much like the Welch tradition of Mari Lwyd (who is appeased with wassail), it is tradition to give the Krampus on parade schnapps to stay on their “good” side.
