Fall is Here!

Autumn has arrived, bringing with it cooler air, flannels, pumpkin spice, and most importantly, Spooky Month! I for one believe that one can be spooky year-round, but October gives everyone a license to embrace their inner goth.

Vampires! - A Blood Curdling Night from Beyond the Grave! (10/14)

Vampires have been a horror staple since the 1800’s, from Lord Byron’s “Vampyr” to Twilight, from Blade to Supernatural, and of course the many iterations of Dracula, show off what you know about those suckers for prizes and gory glory! Trivia begins 6PM on 10/14 at Calapooia Brewing!

Creature Features! - Attack of the Trivia! (10/28)

ATTACK OF THE KILLER TRIVIA FROM SPACE AND ALSO THE SEA PROBABLY! It’s creature feature trivia night at Calapooia Brewing! From the sea, space, time, or the black lagoon, because of radiation, aliens, toxic waste or Just Cuz, the monsters are due on Hill Street! And with Halloween a scant 3 days later, let’s also make it a costume contest, with prizes and candy and shenanigans galore! Trivia starts at 6 on the 28th!

Fun Fact: One of my favorite types of Creature Features are what Stephen King called “Town with a Problem stories.” In his context he was talking about stories like ‘Salem’s Lot and Children of the Corn. But I have a soft spot for the more monster-laden versions of those stories, like Tremors, 8-Legged Freaks, Slither, Gremlins, and Tarantula. Fun fact, Gremlins, Tarantula, and It Came from Outer Space were all filmed on the same Universal Backlot set, which most of you would recognize as the courthouse plaza from Back to the Future. Fun!
